when you are washing the dishes and see a squirrel on the fence outside staring at you, and you start to make faces at it, dancing with a bowl in your hand.
when you see bright magenta sport shorts at target, pick them up and see the sale price of 11.88, and you buy them just because. and also because you have never felt spring so much in the air as today, and all you ever want to do is wear shorts.
when you paint your nails with revlon teak rose and are so excited about how it matches the outfit you planned, and you even paint your right hand perfectly with your left hand (which is exciting because you are right-handed), but then you forget that this was the nail polish that was too thick for two coats, and as soon as you do something else, you have unintentional claw marks and one-of-a-kind fingerprint designs (that were free, by the way).
when you use your hot pink lipstick marker even though you're not going anywhere, and plus, you're having a photo shoot by yourself in your bedroom and just perfected the messy bun, further proving that your hair can look fabulous when you're lounging about with nothing to do and no one to see.
when not having anything to do is a really bad thing, but having a few things to do that linger on your list while you still feel like you have nothing to do, is worse.
when all you want to do is write, and you're disappointed that not being in an English class this year has decreased your opportunities of structured writing and has allowed your practice to go downhill, and you just want to get back into it, but when it comes to writing short and sweet college application essays which are actually on topics you love, you put it off like the plague. it's just so hard for you to sit yourself down and self-impose a deadline. why do you complain when teachers do it, but then wish they did it when they didn't?
when you just itch for new music, so you get the sheet music for brooke fraser's arithmetic and philip wesley's dark night of the soul, play them both twice, and then proceed to itunes to drain your account and leave an impractical $0.45, but you don't care and your birthday's coming up so hopefully you can finally buy some mumford and sons, cause rend collective was cheaper and had been on your wishlist longer so that's what you got. you also got one sonic society, josh turner, and the october baby soundtrack. yes.
